I actually found out about InspiriTec around 2010 from a friend who told me what a great company it was, but at the time, I was far less disabled than I am now. My disability status changed when I was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2015. I also have lupus, fibromyalgia, severe nerve damage, heart issues, dyslexia, and ADHD; and I have been overweight my whole life. I have prior experience working in contact centers, but I left those jobs – one closed, and two because of my disabilities. The last contact center I worked for before InspiriTec would not give me time off for gastric bypass surgery! I joined InspiriTec in my current role in June 2021– and have found my work home. Here, I am surrounded by colleagues who understand what it’s like to have disabilities. They understand people with disabilities often can’t control our health, even if we’re properly using the medications/treatments prescribed to us. We work hard but also have a good time, take care of each other, and hang out outside of work. On the Human Resource Command (HRC) team, I share information with the military community regarding their retirement applications. They have fascinating backgrounds and stories! InspiriTec shows they care about colleagues’ well-being. When I had flare-ups and had to miss work, InspiriTec let me work remotely and put me on the email team. When I took about six months off to deal with some medical and family complications, InspiriTec let me step back from my job, and told me to come back when I was ready. At InspiriTec, the doors are open for advancement – no matter your disabilities. When I complete my Bachelor’s program in Human Services and Counseling, I would like to advance into a position where I am giving back to my InspiriTec colleagues. I also want to be a foster parent and adopt, and take over the house I live in today – the house I was born in and my great-grandfather built!
