SUCCESS STORIES
“InspiriTec looks at you for the person you are and the work you do, not the medical condition that you have.”
InspiriTec’s employees are our key asset and the fruit of our mission. Each real-life story below reveals the impact made possible through our partnerships with commercial customers and the dedication of our committed supporters.
Fred • Customer Service Representative • Philadelphia
I was homeless for a few years and had no career path. I had worked as a part-time seasonal employee at GameStop, off-and-on at a meatpacking plant, and at a pharmaceutical packing company. I was volunteering as an Assistant Chaplain at a homeless mission called Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission (now called Philly House), when Nick recruited me to InspiriTec. Nick was the Volunteer Coordinator at Sunday Breakfast before becoming a Case Manager at InspiriTec. I started my position of Customer Service Representative (CSR) on the ACA project in 2018. I assist callers with completing applications for Medical Assistance and SNAP benefits in Pennsylvania, answer general questions, and refer calls to the appropriate place for inquiries we are not contracted to handle. InspiriTec offers better stability, pay, and supports than my previous jobs offered. At InspiriTec, people are treated like people. The culture is relaxed. The holiday luncheons are catered. The managers are reasonable about expectations. I know this, because I was fired from the pharmaceutical packing company, after I spoke up about them expecting me to do more than I could. InspiriTec turned around the bad issues I had with talking to people over the phone; now I like talking to people over the phone. I am more stoic: I can more efficiently block out my emotions and make logical decisions. I am now on a career path at InspiriTec, where I am succeeding and open to opportunities for advancement. Homelessness made me come to grips with reality, but I’m glad I’m not homeless anymore. Case Management helped me get an apartment over two years ago!
