Kirah • Benefits Team Lead • Ft Knox
I have dedicated my life to taking care of others. Before InspiriTec, I worked at a nursing home, I took care of my grandparents in Florida for a time, and I earned my Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Today, I take care of my family, the household, and animals. I help with my dad, who has disabilities from his military service (and is my colleague at InspiriTec), and my sister, who has seizures and can’t be left alone at night. I also help with house’s upkeep, gardening, and finances. As a family, we rescue animals. We live near Fort Knox, where there are often stray animals left behind by military families who leave their housing and cannot take their animals with them to their next living assignment. We find the stray animals, take them into our home, and do what we can to improve their health. You might be wondering: Who takes care of you? When do you get to take care of yourself? Answer: InspiriTec! As a member of the DMDC Support Office team, where we serve callers who are members of the military community – like my family, I have grown professionally and personally. Professionally, I started as a Customer Service Representative, but have been promoted twice – to Field Support after one year, and to Benefits Team Lead three years later. I was never afforded the opportunity to advance in my career in any of my previous jobs, even though I held them for several years each. The pay increases from my promotions have allowed me to contribute more to my family’s finances, and I bought my first car! Personally, I was once shy, but InspiriTec made me more outgoing and vocal. My own disabilities are accommodated here as well. I have a history of migraines, kidney stones, bronchitis, pneumonia, and a torn meniscus – from which I have space in one of my leg bones. The light shields at my workstation help with the chronic migraines, and having a desk job puts less stress on my body than my previous jobs did. I would love to return to college and to the medical field, but InspiriTec offers a lot of benefits that working anywhere else would not offer. They support people with disabilities…and I get to work with my dad!
