SUCCESS STORIES
“InspiriTec looks at you for the person you are and the work you do, not the medical condition that you have.”
InspiriTec’s employees are our key asset and the fruit of our mission. Each real-life story below reveals the impact made possible through our partnerships with commercial customers and the dedication of our committed supporters.
Ron • Customer Service Representative • Newark
I am an accomplished college athlete, middle school science teacher, and volleyball coach. I won several state and conference championships as an athlete and coach, and teaching awards as both the district and state levels. During a period of my life where I was less active, I experienced stress, dehydration…and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI/CVA). I lost half my body and brain function, and developed epilepsy and visual deficiency. I had to retire from teaching and coaching, and therefore needed to change the way I worked and played. I found my new way to work, at InspiriTec, through the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS). Since April 2021, I’ve worked here, where I provide customer service to New Jersey State professionally licensed workers. I guide them through the process of applying for and renewing their professional licenses. InspiriTec is an accessible employer, and their good pay allows me to finance my lifestyle. Hobbies in the outdoors and sports, and raising my son, are expensive! I found new ways to play, too. I joined a cycling group for Disabled Veterans and First Responders called Operation Rebound. I was a Professional Rescue SCUBA Dive Master/first responder and First Response Instructor – which required an Emergency First Responder certification. I also coached a golfer seeking U.S. Open qualification to almost a 2 handicap. Every day, I seek out challenges and ways to improve myself – physically, professionally, and most importantly as a father. I aim to set a positive example for my son, and I enjoy watching him grow and discover his interests. In sports terms: If I were a second baseman, I would want to become a better second baseman. I wouldn’t want to become a pitcher. I enjoy my new life. Thank You, InspiriTec, for affording me this new life! My senses of pride, purpose, and responsibility are restored! I leave you with a lesson I taught my students: don’t give up, and you can do anything!
